Professor Charles Boggs began his pursuit of designing for the cruise industry in 2005 as part of the design team at RTKL (now Arcadis) working on Celebrity Solstice. Since that time, he has worked on every new class of ship for Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, including leading the design team for a number of venues on the new Icon of the Seas.
Design is just part of the story, however, as Professor Boggs has worked for over a decade to bring cruise design to the next generation. Leading courses and studios specializing in the cruise design specialty, he has exposed students to the unique needs and processes of our amazing industry. Additionally, through his work as Professor and Associate Chair of Interior Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), he has brought attention to the industry to majors and disciplines outside of traditional architecture and interior design, incorporating cruise design into the curriculum of SCADpro real-world projects and off campus excursions composed of students from a range of creative disciplines and backgrounds. His proudest accomplishment has been working alongside former students and watching them step into their own future leader roles.
