Shores Ocean Chair

On June 19, 2019, at the Miami Beach Convention Center marine furniture supplier Shores Global launched its most exciting product to date.

The Ocean Chair was launched with a purpose, to offer a sustainable solution that made use of the vast amounts of plastic found in our oceans. According to Shores’ report, we produce around 300 million tonnes of plastic waste each year, eight million of which find their way into the world’s oceans.

So what is the Ocean Chair and how is it helping to counteract the negative effects of plastic waste? Comprised of recycled fishing nets, rope, and plastic waste, all collected from the sea, the Ocean Chair (and soon-to-come Ocean Collection) is also designed for disassembly, meaning each component of the product can be recycled into its purest form and then reintroduced into new production circles.

To accompany the chair’s launch, Shores has provided a handy guide complete with ideas to tackle environmental issues, a Q&A, and information surrounding the company’s sustainability initiatives.
