Many have adapted or refined their products to incorporate more sustainable practices, a topic that has become increasingly important in cruise ship interior design. It’s changing how suppliers approach their choice of materials, and making them re-evaluate their techniques. As sustainability becomes more of a focus in the cruise industry and in the wider world, it’s important to showcase those companies that are going the extra mile to be more sustainable. From flooring to food waste solutions, in alphabetical order, let’s take a look at some of the sustainable exhibitors you’ll find on the show floor.

Esmarin Composites Oy

Finnish company Esmarin Composites Oy are leading the way for modern ship design, acquiring a wide expertise in product development processes, material selection and production over its 30 year history. Their latest product is a fireproof composite that acts as a modern alternative to metals and gypsum. The lightweight material allows greater flexibility, helping designers achieve more unique structures than other materials allow. Their latest product has durability at its core, with a lifespan of 100 years. The material is also entirely recyclable. Their product can be taken to a factory after use, where it is melted down and used as an ingredient in cement.
Eumar Design

Eumar Design have created an innovative patented, in-house composite stone formula, crafted entirely from recycled waste. Their unique material is twice as light as conventional alternatives, cutting weight. It has the potential to save millions in operational costs throughout a vessel’s lifecycle. In addition to being a sustainably made material, their surfaces are antimicrobial , durable, renewable, and repairable, and 100% recyclable at end-of-life. Eumar also offer full customization to interior designer specifications, with direct factory supply.
Generation Waste

Generation Waste is a Swedish sustainability tech company helping the hospitality industry transform food waste from a hidden cost into a measurable and solvable challenge. Through a data driven approach, they offer tools to help a variety of businesses track, analyse, and reduce their food waste in real time. Users can see their waste volumes in weight, cost and climate impact via a dedicated app, greatly improving their sustainability goals. Recent successes have seen a hotel client reduce their food waste from 200+ grams to just 20 grams per guest, while another client has seen a 36% reduction of waste thanks to Generation Waste.
iSiMAR

iSiMAR is an outdoor furniture supplier with sustainability at the heart of their design and manufacturing process. Their galvanized steel material is 100% recycled and recyclable, with no plastic used in the product or packaging. ISiMAR’s factory is powered entirely with solar energy, producing five times more renewable energy than the company consumes. Their surplus energy is given to other companies, helping them improve their own sustainability goals. They also support local industry more generally, with 80% of iSiMAR’s suppliers located within a 60-mile radius. The company maintains CO₂-negative emissions, in addition to other minimum waste and responsible consumption measures.
Lonseal Inc.

California based Lonseal Inc. specialises in a variety of flooring solutions, driven by the pursuit of healthier indoor spaces through innovation and product quality. Sustainability is also high on the agenda for Lonseal, with their products meeting stringent indoor air quality (IAQ) standards and containing reduced volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Their flooring features a pre-applied urethane finish called Topseal, reducing the need for wax applications and other deep cleaning thanks to its stain resistant properties. Safety features have also aided sustainability, with Lonseal materials engineered to slow or prevent the spread of fire while avoiding the release of toxic or environmentally harmful gases.
Plaat Detail

Plaat Detail OÜ are innovators in laminated PET foam integration, and are working with cabin furniture engineer Standard AS to bring an innovative and sustainable furniture product, engineered specifically for the cruise ship industry. The furniture incorporates MURR, a recyclable PET foam core material that results in up to 80% weight reduction, significant durability gains, and lower lifecycle emissions when compared to other materials. The product also features 50% lower CO₂ emissions compared to standard foam cores, and has so far recycled 1.7 billion PET bottles with 76,800 metric tons of CO₂ saved through sustainable production.
Sekers

Sekers is a leading supplier of quality contract furnishing fabrics for hospitality, leisure and cruise markets worldwide. Their latest collection is Dolce Vita Leathers, a premium leather collection made in Italy and renowned globally for its outstanding quality, craftsmanship, and innovation. In addition to premium quality, it also has sustainability in mind. The leather has undergone eco-friendly manufacturing processes, with Sekers pioneering innovative techniques to minimise chemical use and enhance water treatment processes. Reduced water consumption, lower emissions, and maximised energy efficiency are also achieved during the treatment process, and 98.2% of the water used is purified and returned to the environment.
World Global Distribution

World Global Distribution is a global supplier with 15 years experience specialising in synthetic thatch and artificial bamboo materials. Their products are fireproof, waterproof, and wind-resistant, capable of withstanding Category 5 hurricane conditions. This durability makes them well suited to various applications and industries. They are also eco-friendly, with their artificial nature providing a sustainable alternative to using real bamboo. The high-quality of the synthetic material also aids sustainability, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and reliability in even the harshest environments, reducing the need for replacements.
A more sustainable supply chain
Sustainability is becoming embedded in the practices of suppliers at CSIA, reflecting the drive to change within the marine indsutry.
