Each vessel launched is equipped with groundbreaking innovations providing new ways to keep passengers entertained at sea, including popular land-based attractions. Rollercoasters debuted on the seas in 2020 with BOLT. We have since seen the introduction of many hybrid coasters, from watercoasters to rollgliders, on board newbuild cruise ships. But it’s not just about hair-raising thrills. Many other popular land-based attractions, including escape rooms and Virtual Reality experiences, have also made their at-sea debuts. These varying attractions cater to cruises’ broad passenger demographic, including families, couples, and solo travellers of various ages.

As attractions and entertainment innovations become more important to cruise interior design, Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas has introduced the Attractions & Entertainment Technology Zone (A&ET), new to its 2024 edition. I.E. Park –SOLI group, owned by the Munary family, is a leading firm in the international amusement park industry, boasting over 50 years of combined experience between I.E.Park attractions and SOLI Bumper Cars. The group was formed by I.E.Park (founded in 1965 by Corrado Munari) and SOLI (founded in 1929 – when the first Soli bumper car was produced). I.E. Park – SOLI manufactures and supplies amusement rides, rollercoasters, and bumper cars for indoor and outdoor amusement parks across the world. With their experience and skilled designers, I.E Park creates both indoor and outdoor designs including interactive restaurant attractions, videogame spaces, VR bumper cars, and children’s play areas. Walltopia recently delivered a one-of-a-kind rollglider for the largest cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas. This new ropes course-style attraction hanging over the ocean on one of Icon’s highest decks flies guests at a jaw dropping 72 meters above sea level.
