The Cruise Conversations’ Meet the Innovators series continues this week with an all-new episode. Darren Smith, Project Sales and Surveying Manager at MJM Marine and Tim Sharkey, Director of Customer Success at Vyv met with Toby Walters to discuss the changes they are bringing to the cruise interiors industry.

MJM Marine are a well-known marine outfitting company with years of experience and partnerships with the top cruise line brands. It was one of the cruise brands that introduced MJM Marine to Vyv, a technology company with patented new methods to kill germs using LED technology. The companies have collaborated on a new project. Now, when MJM Marine board newbuild vessels or work on refurbishment projects, they offer the opportunity to install Vyv technology.

Tim Sharkey explained in the webinar that the focus of their collaboration with MJM Marine was high-traffic, high-touch areas. This includes restaurant spaces and kitchens and ‘anywhere antimicrobial technology can be of benefit’.

Restoring passenger confidence

Many cruise lines are returning to service after a year of no-sail orders. Part of their challenge is to provide a safe and hygienic environment that still feels like a holiday to guests. The Vyv technology is a sustainable, LED-based solution that is easily integrated into the existing overhead lighting fixtures as part of the refurbishment or installation process. The tech is chemical-free and should be kinder on materials and furnishings than other, disinfectant-based options. The anti-microbial light produced by the installations decontaminates surfaces while illuminating the room.

Darren and Tim explore the benefits of their collaboration, how cruise lines can seamlessly upgrade their hygiene protections and more in the latest Meet the Innovators webinar.
