Sustainability is cruise interior’s hottest buzzword at the moment. But make no mistake, this isn’t just a trend that will only impact cruise interior designs over the next few years; it is a necessary change that cruise lines must commit to in order to survive going forward. At Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas (CSI), we have always recognised the importance of sustainability, from hosting a Cruise Conversations webinar encouraging a more sustainable industry, to facilitating discussions at the Cruise Conversations Live conference around cruise interior’s circular economy. Recently, we have set out our sustainability mission that defines the initiatives we have committed to as we place sustainability at the heart of CSI. These include developing sustainability guidelines for all exhibitors and working with our official sustainability partner, Cradle to Cradle. We are also working alongside organisations such as Event Cycle to repurpose waste materials from the show.

Announcing CSI day two theme: Sustainability

This year at Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas, we wanted to facilitate many discussions around sustainability, encourage the cruise interiors industry to become more sustainable and provide the resources and information necessary to help kickstart this change. That’s why we have dedicated the whole second day of Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas to the theme of sustainability.

Follow the sustainable route during CSI day two

At the heart of sustainability in cruise ship interiors are the suppliers themselves. The Cruise Ship Interiors show floor will feature the latest sustainable innovations. To highlight these, we have curated the sustainable route for day two of Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas 2022. This route will consist of 10 exhibitors that contribute to the cruise industry’s circular economy. Whether it is by reducing waste, lowering emissions during production and manufacturing, or using recycled materials to create new products, we have hand selected suppliers that are actively working to reduce their carbon footprint. Take this opportunity to see sustainable innovations from the likes of Dansk Wilton, Radici Pietro, Ege Carpets, and more!

Increase your knowledge at interactive workshops

Throughout day two of CSI, we will be facilitating discussions and opportunities to learn about sustainability in two workshop sessions. Held at exhibitor booths, ‘Materials Circularity in Cruise Interiors’, and ‘Is It Intrinsically Green? Utilising Certifications to Demonstrate Green Credentials’ are must attend sessions for cruise interior suppliers. Here, you can gain insights into how best to minimise waste through recycling, re-purposing and reusing materials, what it takes to design a truly circular product from the outset, how to acquire and utilise green credentials, and more!

Get inspired by leading discussions at Cruise Conversations Live

Catch our highly relevant conference session, ‘Designing to Last’, during the sustainability day at CSI. Currently, a vessel’s drydock programme determines the lifespan of a cruise interiors space. In this session, industry leaders representing some of the largest cruise lines will be considering what if cruise interiors were designed to last beyond the next refurbishment window? Come away from this conference with the know-how to design cruise ship interiors that will last.
