What Makes Great Design Great?
Day 1, 3.10pm – 4pm
There are many aspects that make up great design. Most importantly, it must be both beautiful and functional. Accomplished designers know how to draw their audience in; invoking an emotional connection in their guests as they respond to their environment. It’s the experience of design which then creates lasting impressions. In a visual-rich session, our panel of distinguished experts and designers will show you some glorious examples of great design, as well as taking you through the design journey from initial concepts to realizing the design intent. You will also be given the know-how to take your designs to the next level with insights into how designers can inspire people to want to cruise, the latest innovations in tech and materials, exciting new suppliers, and how to effectively design within a budget.

Keynote – Addressing Project Delivery Challenges
Day 2, 11.30am – 12.20pm
Cruise Conversations Live will reconvene on day two of Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas 2022 with the keynote ‘Addressing Project Delivery Challenges’. Refurbishment projects have been impacted by the world-wide pressures on availability of raw materials and distribution constraints. With projects to execute, cruise owners are frustrated at the lack of choice due to unavailability of products and are looking at much extended delivery lead times. Where lead times do not match project itineraries, refurbs are being scaled back.
This must attend session aims to raise awareness of the challenges which uniquely face each of the stakeholders today in large refurbishment projects. This is a conversation which has direct relevance to every single player in the project team and across the supply chain – from the owners and designers right through to the suppliers and contractors onsite.

Sustainability Keynote – Designing to Last
Day 2, 3.10pm – 4pm
Day two of CSI 2022 will be themed around the growing importance of sustainability to the cruise industry. For this, we are eager to bring you the dedicated sustainability keynote: ‘Designing to Last’. What better way to end CSI 2022 than to unite in building a more sustainable industry?
The lifespan of a cruise interiors space is currently determined by the vessel’s drydock program. Join leading designers as they look beyond these parameters and ask – what if cruise interiors were design to last beyond the next refurbishment window? What would it take to design for the longer term at the outset, and to simply retouch, repair and refresh when in drydock? What environmental wins could be achieved if refurbishment projects aimed to discard substantially less material?
Come away from this session with the most up to date knowledge from hearing enlightening discussions on sustainable materials, considerations for future proofing designs, designing for brand alignment and many more.
